The team at Adrian’s Tree Service offers stump grinding in Walled Lake and the surrounding communities in Southeast Michigan. This service is usually provided in combination with tree removals. Tree removal does not inherently involve the disposal of the stump, as cutting down the tree and getting rid of the stump require different tools and processes. We highly recommend planning for both at the same time to avoid future problems with the stump on your property.

When you get a tree removed, the stump is left behind. You may think that it’s not worth it to get rid of the stump, especially if you have ideas for ways to incorporate it into a rustic-chic aesthetic, turning it into a quaint chair or table stand. While this certainly is a possibility, we do recommend that you get the stump removed if you don’t have plans for it (and even potentially if you do). Here are some of the reasons why stumps should be eliminated quickly after tree removal:
Stump grinding in Walled Lake, MI is a specific method of stump removal. We use a grinder to get rid of all above-ground evidence of the stump. We grind the stump down below the surface of the soil, turning it into wood chips in the process. The root system will still exist below ground, but it will be broken up during the stump grinding procedure and decay over time.
Grinding down the stump will create a hole in the ground. We will fill in the hole with a mix of soil and the woodchips created by the grinding process. The remaining woodchips can be used as mulch or removed from your property. You may then use the space where your tree once stood to plant new flower beds, grass, or small shrubs. We do not recommend planting a new tree in the exact same location as the old one, as the old root system will still exist and the mixture of soil and mulch does not create the ideal growing conditions for a new tree.
Other methods of stump removal do eliminate the entire root system, but these are often incredibly invasive. Often excavation is required, and depending on the size of the root system, large swaths of your yard may be torn up. We instead recommend stump grinding in Walled Lake because it is efficient and minimally disruptive.
